The Florida Marlins received a huge blow today when their ace Josh Johnson hit the 15 day Disabled List with shoulder inflammation. This is going to be a problem especially when your only a game and a half out of first place and when the team above you has the best pitching staff in all of baseball headlined with a guy named Roy Halladay. So far the Marlins have surpassed expectations with their near lights out pitching and without All Star Hanley Ramirez playing like his usual self. But Josh Johnson hasn't been the only Marlins Pitcher who has pitched well this year. Ricky Nolasco who has a 3-0 record with a 3.39 ERA and his fellow teammate Anibal Sanchez who has thrown two near no hitters this year already is 3-1 with a 3.02 ERA. Even Chris Volstad has begun to pitch better even with his struggles and Javier Vazquez so far is pitching well against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Marlins then have called up the spring training surprise Jay Buente who has absolutely dominated Triple A with a sparkling 1.94 ERA. So if Johnson just misses two to three starts the Marlins should be fine with Buente filling in but then again when it comes to a pitchers shoulder there is always worry.
